ESPORG attended the Digital Transport Days in Tallinn, Estonia, on 9 and 10 November 2017. The Digital Transport Days were organized by the Estonian presidency of the European Union and the European Commission.

Estonia is a frontrunner in the field of digitalization and pushes for a harmonized European use of digital opportunities in the transport sector. The European Commission has already supported digitalization with policy and funding for several years and pledges to intensify its efforts from 2020 onwards. The presence of the President of Estonia, the Estonian transport minister and the European Commissioner for transport underline the strong political support for digitalization in transport.

The discussions in Tallinn showed a growing awareness of the transport sector of the need and the utility of digital solutions for the entire logistics chain. This was evidenced by the signature of several new grant agreements for digital transport projects. As a result of the Digital Transport Days a declaration was formulated that is in full conformity with the objectives advocated by ESPORG: http://www.digitaltransportdays.eu/images/Declaration.png
