ESPORG, the European Secure Parking Organisation, hosted their annual conference on the future of secure truck parking along Europe’s motorways on 19 October 2017. The conference evidenced the support from the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council for the efforts of parking operators to create safe and secure parking places for trucks. Europarlement wil veel meer beveiligde truckparkings

Europa moet veel meer doen om vrachtwagenchauffeurs te beschermen, zegt het Europarlement. Vooral omdat de risico’s steeds groter worden. Zo heeft de georganiseerde misdaad het op de lading voorzien, willen terroristen de truck stelen om er aanslagen mee te plegen en kruipen er in de buurt van havensteden steeds vaker verstekelingen aan boord. Om de risico’s te verminderen stelt het Europarlement voor om langs belangrijke vrachtroutes om de 100 kilometer een beveiligde parkeerplaats aan te leggen.
